
John Newbern is a Founder and Attorney at Law at Amborella Law. He is a seasoned trial and litigation attorney with deep expertise in complex commercial disputes, financial crime, insurance subrogation, and claims management. Drawing on more than a decade of high-stakes litigation experience including six years as a criminal prosecutor specializing in white-collar and public-integrity matters, John brings a uniquely strategic, data-driven, and outcomes-oriented approach to every client engagement.
John manages all aspects of third party liability claim investigations, performed complex litigation analysis and strategies, and active prosecution of recovery operations. He has built and scaled streamlined processes for high-stakes subrogation matters, ensuring active progression toward resolution while maintaining premium client service standards. His leadership included supervising cross-functional teams, developing recovery-driven workflows, and advising carriers, captives, and corporate clients on efficient risk and claims management practices.
Prior to his work in the private sector, John served as a Criminal Prosecutor in the White Collar/Public Integrity Unit of the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. As lead trial attorney, he prosecuted complex commercial and financial crime cases involving fraud, embezzlement, identity theft, organized crime, and public-corruption matters. He secured more than three dozen jury verdicts and earned a reputation as a formidable courtroom advocate with deep investigative and evidentiary expertise.
John began his career in insurance and subrogation litigation at both regional and national law firms, managing substantial dockets from initial filing through judgment. His early experience laid the foundation for his later work designing sophisticated, scalable subrogation and claims-recovery systems.
Today, John provides clients with high-touch legal representation backed by real-world operational insight, heavyweight trial experience, and a strong command of commercial and financial dispute environments.
John received his Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law, and his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Southern Methodist University. He is licensed to practice in Arizona.
